The purpose of the work session is to establish a budgetary and fiscal baseline, to set service delivery priorities and fiscal policy, and to discuss specific policy areas having potential impact to the 2013-2014 Biennial Budget. The Council will not take public comment during the noon study session in the Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market St., Room 16. Join the City of Tacoma to celebrate the opening of the Hylebos Bridge on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Hylebos Bridge, which spans the Hylebos Waterway on the east side of the Tacoma Tideflats located at 3590 E. 11th St. The celebration will include a short list of speakers and a ribbon cutting. This is an outdoor event located on the east side of the bridge. Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear and to dress for the weather. Tacoma residents are invited to participate in the creation of the 2013-2014 Biennial Budget through a series of Community Budget Input Meetings in late June and July in the five City Council Districts across the city. The purpose of the Community Budget Input Meetings is to help residents understand the City’s budget development process and provide an opportunity to speak with City officials about current and future budget allocations and priorities. Current projections for the City’s General Fund in the 2013-2014 biennium anticipate a budget gap between $60 and $65 million.
