May is National Historic Preservation Month across the United States. Tacoma will celebrate this special month with the following activities:
Historic Tacoma Old House Lecture Series
Tacoma’s own preservation nonprofit will host a series of expert lectures providing information and tips on the care and maintenance of your historic house, each Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the historic Knights of Pythias Temple. Topics include:
• May 3: ID Required: Residential Architectural Styles from 1880 – 1930
• May 10: Vinyl is for Records: True window repair, restoration and replacement
• May 17: Get the Dirt: Landscaping for historic properties
• May 24: See the Light: Period appropriate lighting
• May 31: Community Forum: An informal chat with community leaders, policy makers and local activists about preservation issues facing Tacoma and its neighborhoods. Bring a dessert to share.
The lectures are free for members of Historic Tacoma. The general public will be charged $8 per lecture or $25 for the series. For more information, contact info@historictacoma.net or call (253) 591-2026. For more information about Historic Tacoma, visit www.historictacoma.net.
