Establishment
The Parking Technical Advisory Group (PTAG), formerly the Parking Management Advisory Task Force, began as a group of approximately 60 stakeholders who met throughout 2008 and 2009 to discuss parking issues within the downtown core. City Council adopted
Ordinance 27840 which formally established the Parking Advisory Management Task Force in November 2010.
Duties and Responsibilities
The PTAG reviews current parking policies and how they impact current stakeholders. The PTAG periodically makes recommendations to the City Manager regarding needed changes for existing policies or establishing new policies needed to ensure that the parking system adheres to the adopted guiding principles.
Membership
PTAG consists of up to 12 volunteer members appointed by the City Manager. Each volunteer is appointed for a term of two years. The PTAG consists of business and property owners, large parking generators, residents and parkers.
Staff Support
Staffing support to PTAG is provided by the
Engineering Division of the Public Works Department.
Become a Member of Tacoma's Parking Technical Advisory Group-Applications Due March 15, 2024
PTAG is seeking applicants to fill three positions to participate in decisions/recommendations on Tacoma's parking system. Applicants seeking a position must be a user of Tacoma's transportation system. Appointees will serve a two-year term from December 2023 to December 2025.
All applications must be submitted to Rachel Barra, Staff Liaison, or parking@cityoftacoma.org by 5 PM on March 15, 2024. All applications will be reviewed by the PTAG co-chairs, and interviews of the most qualified applicants will be conducted before making a recommendations to the City Manager.
