To view the plan that the City of Tacoma uses to clear snowy and icy roads, check the City's snow routes. Public Works crews remove snow from Tacoma's streets on a prioritized basis, starting with primary arterial streets and followed by secondary and auxiliary routes. Crews do not remove snow from residental streets.

How can we handle problems relating to trees and vegetation during inclement weather?
Use this link to report trees in power lines from pole to pole. For downed power lines, please call and leave a message at Tacoma Power (253) 502-8602.
Power lines from pole to house are the property owner's responsibility to maintain, to have the power shut off for pruning, please call Tacoma Power and leave a message at (253) 502-8729.
Report a tree in the right-of-way that may pose a significant threat to public safety, health or welfare (such as dead, dying, diseased, or damaged trees) or call (253) 591-2048. Please note that trees on private property that do not pose a significant threat to public safety, health or welfare are a private (or civil) matter- this means that the City cannot get involved in the matter. Please direct your questions elsewhere for these situations. Pierce County Center for Dispute Resolution may be able to help mediate conflicts between neighbors about trees. You can contact them at (253) 572-3657. The Pierce County Bar Association may be able to assist with legal questions.
Whose responsibility is it to remove fallen trees from the right-of-way?
The abutting property owner is responsible for maintaining the right-of-way in a manner that is safe for the public. Public Works can assist with clearing trees from the roads (when there are no downed power lines), please contact (253) 591-5495 to report the location of the downed tree.
