Overview
The Human Services Commission (HSC) reviews applications and makes funding recommendations of human services programs funded through the federal Community Development Fund Block Grant program, City of Tacoma General Fund, and City of Tacoma Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders sales tax. The Committee conducts public hearings, accepts and reviews proposals, selects projects and makes recommendations to the City Council. The Committee also serves as a resource to the City Council and City Staff for the development and implementation of Neighborhood and Community Services Strategic Plans.
Membership
The Human Services Commission (HSC) consists of fifteen members who are recommended by the Community Vitality and Safety Committee (CVS) and appointed by the City Council to serve in an advisory capacity on human services funding and related issues.
Membership must reflect the diversity of our community as to race and culture, gender, age, socioeconomics, geography, and interest in Commission membership.
