Tacoma’s Arts, Culture, Heritage, and Science Communities
Invited to Join Conversation About Tacoma Creates

The City of Tacoma’s Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality invites the public to a community conversation about Tacoma Creates – a voter-approved initiative to expand arts, culture, heritage, and science experiences throughout Tacoma, reduce barriers to access, and increase offerings for youth after school and in the summer. This free public event will be held on Wednesday, January 23, 6 – 8 PM at Theater on the Square (915 Broadway in Tacoma).

Attendees will learn more about Tacoma Creates, its intended purpose, the parameters defined in the legislation to guide program development, opportunities this funding could support, and next steps as the City engages with the community to evolve Tacoma Creates. Following an initial introductory presentation, attendees will gather for small group conversations to envision end results for Tacoma Creates and what needs to happen to achieve those end results.

“We want to hear from the diverse voices and talents throughout our city,” said Tacoma Arts Administrator Amy McBride. “We depend on your unique insights into how we can continue to move Tacoma forward. Input from community members of all backgrounds will be key to our success.”

This event, presented by the City of Tacoma’s Office of Arts & Cultural Vitality, will be hosted by Tacoma Arts Live. It is free and open to the public. Supervised children are welcome; teens and young adults are encouraged to participate. Light refreshments will be served.
