Sixth Annual Holiday Heritage Swing Dance on November 8
The City of Tacoma’s Landmarks Preservation Commission is hosting its 6th Annual Holiday Heritage Swing Dance on Friday, Nov. 8 from 6-9 p.m. at McMenamins Elk Temple, Spanish Ballroom.
“We are so excited to showcase the newly restored Elks Temple, which combines innovative economic development and local history,” said Lauren Hoogkamer, Assistant Historic Preservation Officer.
The historic Elks Temple was built in 1915 as a fraternal club and is an example of a Beaux-Arts Classical lodge building in reinforced concrete. McMenamins’ spent over $34 million and over 10 years restoring the building.
The event will include live music by Pierce County Community Big Band, Dance Demonstrations by Studio 6 Ballroom and light refreshments will be provided. The event has a suggested donation for entry, which will go to support heritage events and programming in 2020.
