2020 City of Destiny Awards Announces Alternate Format

Mayor Victoria Woodards and the City Council will recognize Tacoma’s top volunteers and service providers this year during the 34th Annual City of Destiny Awards.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thursday, May 28, live event has been postponed and reformatted. Instead, the City of Tacoma will present a virtual format of the awards ceremony that will be released in late summer on multiple platforms. The new format will highlight all of this year’s awardees, and feature local performers. Information on the date and time of the ceremony will be released at a later date.

“I truly believe that each of us has the power to impact the lives of our friends, families, and neighbors and make Tacoma a more connected, resilient, and vibrant community. This belief is why I launched Compassionate Tacoma,” said Mayor Victoria Woodards. “The community members recognized each year as part of the City of Destiny Awards are a living example of compassion in action. Their dedication to service is an example to us all, and the positive impacts they make are even more important as we as a community respond to a global pandemic.”
