Meal Site Information

Beacon and Lighthouse Activity Centers also serve as meal sites for people age 60+. Lunch is served Monday through Friday at noon. The menu offers a nutritious meal that provides 1/3 RDA (recommended dietary allowance) for seniors. Reservations are recommended but not required. Menus and food is provided by Catholic Community Services through a grant of monies from the Older Americans Act.

The Older American’s Act sets the policy on cost of meals, eligibility, and menu guidelines. Accordingly, meals at both centers are provided for a suggested donation of $3 to eligible seniors. Eligible seniors (age 60 and older) are encouraged to pay what they can up to the $3 per day. Ability to pay may vary from day to day or week to week. No eligible senior will be denied a meal due to inability to pay.

Non-eligible seniors (those younger than 60) are welcome to eat at the meal site. Cost for a non-eligible meal is $5.75. Eligible seniors are served first. Non-eligible seniors will then be served. If there is not enough food to serve non-eligible seniors, the $5.75 fee will be refunded.
