Barking Dogs
Barking dogs and other loud or nuisance animals bring frequent complaints to the City, particularly in warm weather when windows are open. If the noise is from a neighbor's pet, consider speaking with your neighbor before reporting the nuisance. Sometimes a conversation with your neighbor can resolve the issue without causing hard feelings. Allowing dogs to bark excessively or continuously is against the law and can be reported. If discussing the issue with your neighbor is not an option or has not worked, you may want to report the dog to the City. Owners of barking dogs may be in violation of the City of Tacoma's noise ordinance and punishable by law.
Report a barking dog, at TacomaFIRST 311 by clicking on 'Make a Request' and select Animal Issue or call 311 from within the Tacoma city limits. You can also fill out and mail in the Barking Statement Form.
