Community Invited to Help Shape the Safe Routes to School Program at Open House on Nov. 16

The City of Tacoma is holding a Safe Routes to School Open House on Wednesday, Nov. 16, from 5 –7 p.m. at Lincoln High School cafeteria (701 S. 37th St.).

A partnership between the City and Tacoma Public Schools has formed to develop a comprehensive program for K-12 students. The intent of this program is to empower students and parents to feel comfortable walking or bicycling to school through education, promotional activities and infrastructure improvements to increase safety.

Parents, teachers and community members are encouraged to attend the event as the success of the program being developed is based on collaboration from the community – both inside and outside the school. Refreshments and supervised children’s activities will be provided. Those who are unable to attend are invited to give feedback through the online survey, available through Wednesday, Nov. 30.
