South Sound Sustainability Expo

Join us for the 17th Annual South Sound Sustainability Expo! This free, family-friendly event brings the South Sound community together to celebrate and promote environmental sustainability and resiliency. Explore a vibrant mix of vendors, activities, and displays showcasing regional organizations working to improve the environmental sustainability and/or resiliency of our region. The Expo is hosted by the City of Tacoma's Environmental Services Department.

  • Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
  • Time: 10 AM – 3 PM
  • Location: University of Washington Tacoma Campus Prairie Line Trail (1900 Commerce St.) & Tollefson Plaza (1548 Commerce St.)
  •  Cost: Free admission!

What to Expect

This year’s Expo features a fun and interactive lineup of activities for all ages, including:

🌱 Free Plant Swap - bring a plant, take a plant (more details below)
🎨 Art installation by City of Tacoma Artist in Residence, Teruko Nemura
🧒 Family-friendly crafts and activities
🌳 Pop-up Forest experience from the City's Urban Forestry team
🛍️ Over 70 sustainability-focused vendors

Plant Swap Info

Needing a new plant? Have too many plants?

Come take home a new plant friend for your collection or donate some of your extras at our 2nd Annual Plant Swap!

 

What you can bring:

  • Small to medium-sized plants (indoor or outdoor)
  • Cuttings
  • Starts
  • Seeds

Transporting your plants:

To make the exchange process smooth and easy for everyone, we recommend bringing your cuttings or starts in plastic bags with a moist paper towel for easy transport.

 

What's in a name?

Don't forget to label your plants if possible.
