Full Briefing on Proposed State and Federal Legislative Agendas on December 10
On December 10, 2019, during their joint Study Session, the Tacoma Public Utility Board and City Council will receive a full briefing on the City of Tacoma's proposed state and federal legislative agendas.
The City of Tacoma’s proposed state and federal legislative agendas were developed through engagement with operational departments and divisions, policymakers and other stakeholders. The agendas focus on key policy areas and funding requests to enhance quality of life for the Tacoma community including:
- Affordable housing and homelessness
- Infrastructure and transportation
- Human dignity, health and safety
- Environmental stewardship and sustainability
- Other priority issues related to local authority and advocacy support for the City’s partner agencies
Briefings on priority issues were previously provided to the City Council on September 24, 2019 and October 15, 2019, and to the Tacoma Public Utility Board on November 13, 2019. On December 4, 2019, the Tacoma Public Utility Board approved a resolution adopting state and federal legislative agendas for Tacoma Public Utilities.
Following the December 10, 2019 joint Study Session briefing to the Tacoma Public Utility Board and City Council, the City Council is projected to consider adoption of Resolution 40506 on the City of Tacoma's state and federal legislative agendas with priority issues for the 2020 sessions of the Washington State Legislature and U.S. Congress.
