Heavy Rain Causing Road Closures in Tacoma
As heavy rains continue, Tacoma is experiencing street closures due to flooding. The City of Tacoma’s Environmental Services Department urges residents to follow detours and avoid streets that are closed. For the most up to date road closures, visit cityoftacoma.org/inclementweather.
City crews are responding to calls on a priority basis, and the community is asked to continue to report street flooding to (253) 591-5585.
“City crews are doing everything they can, and we kindly ask for the community’s patience as we continue to work through these areas,” said Hugh Messer, Environmental Services Department division manager.
The City’s Public Works and Environmental Services departments are providing free sandbag supplies to the public for personal use. While supplies last, community members can come to one of two locations to shovel and load their own sandbags. Both locations are open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
