Changes to Household Hazardous Waste Facility Hours Starts April 7
To help minimize the spread of COVID-19 and conserve limited supplies, the City of Tacoma’s Solid Waste Management is reducing hours and services at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility (3510 S. Mullen St.) starting Tuesday, April 7, until further notice.
Effective this date, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility will be closed Tuesdays through Thursdays and will be open Fridays through Mondays from 8 AM to 5:30 PM. Only essential household hazardous waste from residential customers is allowed, such as material that cannot be safely and temporarily stored at home. However, non-essential household hazardous waste such as small quantities of fluorescent bulbs or batteries should be safely stored at home until the facility resumes regular service. For more information, including a full list of acceptable household hazardous waste items, visit cityoftacoma.org/hazwaste.
For more information on additional resources available to Pierce County residents, visit the Hidden Valley Household Hazardous Waste Facility site, or call (253) 847-7555.
In addition, the City’s Solid Waste Management is continuing to limit access to the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.) until further notice. No self-haul residential garbage, self-haul yard waste, or self-haul Call-2-Haul loads are being accepted at this facility. Curbside Call-2-Haul services are still available, but there could be delays in collection service due to demand. Click here to learn more.
Essential City services, such as Solid Waste collection services, continue to remain operational. Solid Waste Management is experiencing COVID-19 impacts, which may result in collection schedule changes for both residential and commercial customers. Click here to learn more.
As Solid Waste Management continues to monitor this ever-changing situation, residents will be notified of schedule changes on the Recycle Coach app, and information will be posted on cityoftacoma.org/solidwaste, or customers can call (253) 502-2100 for more information.
