South 56th Street and Cirque Drive Corridor Improvements Phase 2 Virtual Open House October 15
The City of Tacoma is holding a virtual open house for the second phase of the South 56th Street and Cirque Drive Corridor Improvements Project on Thursday, October 15, from noon - 1 p.m. via Zoom webinar.
Phase 2 of the project focuses on South 56th Street from South Washington Street to Tacoma Mall Boulevard. This project will replace pavement along the corridor, upgrade curb ramps and sidewalks to meet ADA requirements, install traffic signal upgrades, and install bike facilities on a parallel route connecting the South Tacoma Sounder Station with the Tacoma Mall Transit Center.
Bike facilities will be added on South 54th Street and will make connections to the South Tacoma Sounder Station via Washington Street and to the Tacoma Mall Transit Center via South Fife, South 48th, South Oakes, and South 47th streets. This project will construct Tacoma’s first parking-protected bike lanes and two-way cycle track.
Construction of Phase 2 is scheduled to begin spring/summer 2021.
To participate in the virtual open house, visit cityoftacoma.org/south56thstreet and click the registration link, or to listen in, dial (253) 215-8782, and enter the passcode 843 8426 5067 when prompted.
