What's Happening with Residential Curbside Glass Recycling?
Starting Monday, January 4, 2021, residential curbside glass recycling collection for customers in single-family homes and duplexes was replaced with drop-off stations throughout the city.
Residential customers received notice at least two weeks prior to the end of curbside glass collection. This notice included information to find a glass drop-off location near you.
Where are these locations, what are their hours, and what is collected?
*More drop-off sites are under consideration, and this table will be updated as they are available.

What should customers do with their glass recycling bin?
Customers who have a glass bin that was issued by Solid Waste Management are welcome to keep
that bin. When glass collection stops on January 4, customers are asked to refrain from putting glass
into the large mixed recycle bin with other materials. They are being asked to collect it in the
smaller glass bin and use it to bring the glass to a drop-off station. Customers are also welcome to
keep the glass bin to reuse as a storage container or for any other creative use.
What if I live in Pierce County?
The drop-off locations at Center at Norpoint, Central Co-op, and Stewart Heights Park are intended for the use of City of Tacoma's residential customers (single-family homes and duplexes).
The Recycle Center at the Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen Street) may be used by all Pierce County residents. Glass drop-off locations for Pierce County residents can be found here.

Additionally, Council passed Resolution 40461 establishing the Recycle Reset Project to help with residential recycling education and outreach, and assist with a transition to a glass drop-off collection methodology.
