TACOMA, Wash. -- Following an extensive community outreach and engagement process, a final reading of Ordinance No. 28718 is scheduled to take place at the November 24 Tacoma City Council meeting for the adoption of the 2021-2022 Biennial Budget.

During her initial presentation of the proposed budget on October 6, 2020, City Manager Elizabeth Pauli outlined a recommended plan to support City Council priorities relating to Community Safety, Health, Affordable Housing, Access, Livable Wage Jobs, Belief and Trust, and Culture and Effectiveness.

The City’s 2021-2022 Proposed Biennial Budget is $3.7 billion, of which $505 million is allocated to the General Fund.

Subsequent to the initial proposal of the budget, adjustments were made incorporating Council feedback in the areas of Library services, neighborhood planning, downtown retail support, and opioid support. The Council is also reviewing adjustments related to Fire services and basic life support.

The City’s 2021-2022 Biennial Budget, once adopted, will be posted at cityoftacoma.org/budget.
