The Salvation Army Warming Center Served 104 in 2021
The City funded a temporary warming center at the Salvation Army building located at 1110 S. Puget Sound from January 28 through April 30.
“The location served 104 single men with access to temporary shelter during this year’s inclement weather season and was one of three sites the City funded as a measure to address the capacity limitations in our traditional shelter system created by COVID-19,” said Allyson Griffith, assistant director of Neighborhood and Community Services.
The other two locations closed earlier in 2021 to accommodate the reopening of community centers for all people in the community in accordance with the Washington Safe Start Plan.
The Salvation Army and City staff worked to place all guests in alternate shelter before closing the location.
