Celebrate the McKinley Neighborhood on September 10
The City of Tacoma, in partnership with the Dometop Neighbors and Eastside Neighborhood Council, are celebrating the McKinley Neighborhood from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 10 at Rogers Playfield (3151 East L. St.)
The McKinley Neighborhood Fair will include a bike rodeo, Tacomarama Community Street Band, live arts demonstrations and storm drain stenciling, fun games for kids, free haircuts from Tre’s Fades, and free refreshments from Ruca’s Mexican Food Truck and Rez Boys Frybread, while supplies last. Vendors will be sharing free community resources.
“We are so grateful for the contributions of the McKinley Hill community over the last eight months,” said Lauren Hoogkamer, Neighborhood Planning Program principal planner. “People have shared their vision for the future of McKinley Hill on surveys and at events, and our steering group has been hard at work using that feedback to create the draft McKinley Neighborhood Plan.”
This event is part of the City of Tacoma’s pilot Neighborhood Planning Program, which provides enhanced planning and development support to help communities create strong, vibrant, and diverse neighborhoods. The program will soon be launching in Proctor.
The City is asking people who live, work or play in the McKinley Neighborhood to share their feedback on the draft McKinley Neighborhood Plan through September 19 at engagepiercecounty.mysocialpinpoint.com/mckinleynp
