Appointed in January 2023 as the City’s first Chief Strategy Officer, Jacques Colon is responsible for leading organizational and cross-departmental strategic planning for the City of Tacoma. Jacques’s talent for working with the community to develop clear strategy and direction is essential in meeting the City’s and the community’s goals.
As the Chief Strategy Officer for the Office of Strategy, his responsibilities include leading organizational strategy, including the implementation and redevelopment of the City’s strategic plan and community vision, Tacoma 2025, and the annual development of City Council Priorities.
The Office of Strategy is also responsible for the development and implementation of key City cross-departmental strategic plans including the Affordable Housing Action Strategy (AHAS) and the Community Safety Plan (CSP). The Office of Strategy also leads strategic initiatives such as the Tacoma Anchor Network, a collaborative of Tacoma’s largest employers working together to create a resilient local economy through local hiring, procurement, and place-based investments.
Before his appointment, Jacques served as the Tacoma 2025 Strategic Manager for the City of Tacoma. Additionally, he has also served as the Health Equity Coordinator for the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department where he led the development of the Health Department’s Health Equity Assessment and the Communities of Focus and Health in All Policies initiatives.
Prior to his work in Tacoma, Jacques worked as a public health policy analyst in Washington, D.C. and as a middle school science teacher with Teach for America in Miami, FL.
