Page Types

Available Page Types

In order to maintain a unified look and feel for the City of Tacoma's website, there are two available page layouts for you to utilize.

Two-Column Layout

A page with a two-column layout is mainly used as a landing page.  A landing page is any page that has sub-pages nested under it.

The first column for the main page content is 530 pixels wide and can support images less than 530 pixels in width.

The second column sits just to the right and is called the sidebar. Content in the sidebar should be reserved for important information that needs be closer to the top but does not fit with the main content. This content can consist of contact information, office addresses, business hours, a few important short anchor text links, or possibly small images. You should not place long links or sentences in this area as the text will wrap and become overwhelming.

One-Column Layout

A page with a one-column layout can be used for either a landing page or a sub-page.

The maximum width for an image in a one-column page is 730 pixels.  However, placing an image on the page at this width should only be done when necessary and in a limited manner.  Generally this is reserved for banner images or images that display a great amount of detail that is important to the page's content.
