Please be informed that the TERS office will now require a scheduled appointment for in-person meetings between the hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
Walk-in visits are prohibited.
We kindly request you to schedule your appointments in advance by contacting our Retirement Specialist either by phone or email provided below. Meetings can be completed either by scheduled in-person appointments, by phone, Teams or Zoom for your convenience.

A defined benefit plan providing retirement benefits to City of Tacoma employees, TERS serves about 3,000 active members and 3,000 deferred and retired members. As of August 2022, TERS had approximately $2.1 billion in invested assets. Retirement benefits are funded by employer and member contributions, as well as investment earnings.

LEOFF 1 Police and Fire Pension and Disability Boards act as the local administrative bodies for the administration of RCW 41.26 for LEOFF 1 and for the prior pension acts. The Boards consider applications for benefits under RCW 41.26 in accordance with that statute and the Washington Administrative Code.
