The City of Tacoma would like to encourage event promoters in their efforts to develop activities in the City that may be of interest to our visitors as well as residents. However, it is necessary to balance the probable impact of the event with the safety needs of the participants as well as the rest of the community.
The Special Events Section of the Tacoma Fire Prevention Bureau issues temporary permits and establishes conditions to ensure public safety at large public gatherings including fairs, concerts, sporting events, and festivals. They also inspect and issue permits related to outdoor cooking, trade shows, and other high-profile events.
