This workshop is intended for organizations who are new to applying or have limited experience applying for local Affordable Housing Development funding. The workshop will provide a detailed look into the application process and application documents. After the 2025 Affordable Housing Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) is released in March 2025, the City will be limited in the type of assistance it can provide on the application materials. This workshop will be beneficial in providing participants an opportunity to ask specific questions, prior to the NOFA release. In preparation for the workshop, we are accepting questions in advance. Please email questions to Tammi Garofalo at tgarofalo@cityoftacoma.org by Friday, February 14, 2025 by 4pm. Questions will also be accepted during the workshop.

When submitting questions, please provide your name, company name, title/role, and a phone number. This will be helpful if additional communication is needed.

If applying for local affordable housing development funds is of interest to your organization, please plan on attending. This workshop will not be recorded.

General Frequently Asked Questions About NOFAs

What is a Notice of Available Funding (NOFA)?

A NOFA is simply an announcement that grant funding is available and signals an opportunity for interested and qualified people to apply to receive funding. Funding typically has specific criteria applicants must meet for their program or service to qualify for the available funding.

How often is funding available?

Funding is made available when it is released by Federal, State or Local governments. Funding opportunities vary, so it is a good idea to check the page somewhat frequently or sign up for our page watch.

Who should apply for funding?

Organizations or professionals whose business and expertise meets the criteria of the funding opportunity. We encourage anyone to apply that believes their program or service qualifies for funding.
