Project Background

In reviewing accident reports (crash data) provided by both WSDOT as well as the City of Tacoma from 2007 to 2011, it was determined that three project-related intersections were in need of improvement; South 25th Street, Yakima Avenue, and Tacoma Avenue South.  Due to this need, the City of Tacoma received two grants from the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). $880,000 was awarded in 2008 and $251,097 was awarded in 2013.
