The rainy weather is impacting the construction schedule. All work noted below is weather dependent.
Paving Continues North of WUT, Maxwell Intersection Remains Closed
The contractor expects to complete paving the center lane of Port of Tacoma Road between Washington United Terminals and Ross Way later this week.
The intersection of Maxwell Way and Port of Tacoma Road remains closed to accommodate the center lane paving. A detour route is marked around the construction.
Asphalt paving to transition from the completed Port of Tacoma Road pavement to Ross Way, Lincoln Avenue and the Washington United Terminals entrance and exit gates may temporarily limit access to these areas.
Expect Limited Access at Marshall Avenue Intersection
The intersection of Marshall Avenue and Port of Tacoma Road will not close as previously planned. Instead, expected limited access and partial closures of the intersection beginning November 20 to allow for grinding and paving work.
Weekend work on this section of Port of Tacoma Road is planned for November 21 and 22.
No Work Expected Over Thanksgiving Day Holiday
No construction work is expected on Port of Tacoma Road November 26 to 29 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday.
While all terminals are closed November 26, the container terminals are expected to be open November 27. Expect additional congestion in the port industrial area following the Thanksgiving holiday. Please plan accordingly and be patient.
Stay Safe Through Construction Zone
Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port continue to work with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.
Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
