Project Description
South 21st Street from Tacoma Avenue to Jefferson Avenue, and Fawcett Avenue from S. 19th to S. 21st Street will be reconstructed to include new asphalt and concrete pavement, lighting, utilities (water, power and stormwater and wastewater sewers), vehicle/pedestrian detection, street trees, and pedestrian-related improvements such as new sidewalks, curb ramps, crosswalks, median refuge islands, pavement markings and a hybrid pedestrian beacon (HAWK beacon) at the intersection of S. 21st Street and Fawcett Avenue.
Additionally, to support Fawcett Avenue being the main bicycle boulevard through downtown, mid-block traffic-calming bulbouts will be constructed along with related pavement markings (sharrows), signs and bicycle detection between S. 21st and S. 19th Street.

Electronic message boards will be placed along the corridor notifying drivers of all traffic changes.
Project Outreach
Coordination with local stakeholders has been ongoing. Informational flyers will be sent to all residents and businesses in the area notifying them of the pending construction. Notification will also be provided via social media and this website.
