Driver Training Program

For-Hire Drivers must complete a Driver's Training Program to help drivers understand the rules and regulations to operate in the City of Tacoma.  The course includes a driver training program, exam and Defensive Driving.

If your company does not offer a training program you may take the City offered course listed below for a fee of $25.  The Driver Training program must be completed prior to applying for a For-Hire Driver License.

Driving for a Transportation Network Company?

Transportation Network Company (TNC) drivers complete the driver training program requirements through the on-boarding process with their affiliated TNC.  You do not need to take the City offered class.
