How to Attend Hearings
Interested individuals should be aware that in-person meeting
restrictions related to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic have now been
lifted by the State and the City. As a result, any hearings conducted by the
Hearing Examiner’s Office that include public testimony (e.g., rezones, street
vacations, local improvement districts) as part of the agenda will, of
necessity, have a public attendance component, and unless otherwise noticed,
attendance will be possible in the City Council Chambers located at the Tacoma
Municipal Building at 747 Market Street.
In order to expand opportunity
for attendance, these in-person hearings will still have a remote attendance
option (via the internet or telephone) over the Zoom
platform. Zoom attendance
information can be found on this page.
In appeal hearings (i.e., hearings
without public testimony), an in-person component is not required and the
hearing will be scheduled either for in-person or remotely through technology
by the preference and agreement of the parties to the appeal.
For members of the public wishing to attend any scheduled public
hearing and/or offer testimony, you may offer testimony in writing at any time
prior to the hearing date, and you may also participate by teleconference and
offer testimony in that medium. You will need a computer, phone or tablet that
has the Zoom app installed. It is free. The Hearing Examiner’s Office can be
