Port of Tacoma Road - July 15 - July 26, 2015

Port of Tacoma Road - July 15 to July 26, 2015

Port of Tacoma Road is still reduced to one lane of traffic each direction between Marshall Avenue and Lincoln Avenue. Work on this section is expected to be completed in late August.

The contractor will pave the two northbound lanes July 17, 18 and 20, and this section of road will be closed to traffic July 18 and 19 for slip form paving. Access to local businesses will be provided.

Beginning July 23, the two lanes of traffic (one lane in each direction) will move to the northbound lanes. The contractor will then begin removing pavement in the southbound lanes and plans to begin constructing new pavement July 28.

Driveway Work Between Lincoln Avenue and East 11th Street

Beginning July 18, the contractor will begin replacing driveways on the west side of the road between Washington United Terminal (WUT) entrance and Ross Way. The driveway work will be complete in approximately two weeks.

Road Remains Closed Between Lincoln Avenue and WUT Gate

All lanes of Port of Tacoma Road remain closed between Lincoln Avenue and the WUT gate while U.S. Oil removes contaminated material and the City paves the road with concrete. This full road closure is expected to last through early August.

Traffic is detoured around the road closure on Lincoln Avenue to Thorne Road and Maxwell Way. Local access is provided between Maxwell Way and the WUT gate, and access to WUT is not impacted.

Water Line Construction Continues

The contractor is installing a 12-inch diameter water line between East 11th Street and Lincoln Avenue. From July 15 to 24, water line construction will progress from Concrete Tech to Maxwell Way and require a two-lane closure.

The water line, located in the eastern-most lane, is being constructed in segments starting near East 11th Street.

Husky Trucks Should Use Milwaukee Way Route

Husky trucks should follow the detour along North Frontage Road to Milwaukee Way as their main route to the East 11th Street Staging Area. The Overflow Staging Area will be used on an as-needed basis, and the lanes may shift depending on the needs of Husky Terminal and Olympic Container Terminal (OCT). Follow the signs to make sure you are staging in the correct lane.

Road Closed at Marshall Avenue July 25 and 26

The road is expected to be closed at Marshall Avenue beginning at 6 PM July 24 to demolish and pave the intersection. The intersection is expected to be closed through the weekend with local access only. A detour around the construction will be in place.
