Port of Tacoma Road Update - September 2 to 13

Port of Tacoma Road Update - September 2 to 13

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail, and Port are working with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph to protect both construction workers and people who work at and travel to the Port.

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Port of Tacoma Road/Lincoln Avenue Intersection

Work at the Port of Tacoma Road/Lincoln Avenue intersection over the next two weeks will restrict turns at this intersection:

No turns will be allowed from Port of Tacoma Road onto Lincoln Avenue. To access Lincoln Avenue from Port of Tacoma Road, traffic will be detoured to Maxwell Way and then Thorne Road. From Thorne Road, drivers can access the Washington United Terminal (WUT) staging area and Lincoln Avenue. Trucks exiting the WUT gate will be allowed to turn left onto Port of Tacoma Road to reach SR 509 and I-5. Eastbound traffic on Lincoln Avenue will only be allowed to make right turns onto Port of Tacoma Road. This intersection will be closed to all eastbound Lincoln Avenue traffic beginning the evening of Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13. Traffic will be detoured on Thorne Road to Maxwell Avenue and to Port of Tacoma Road. Local access between Thorne Road and Port of Tacoma Road will be provided.

Washington United Terminal and US Oil Driveways

New driveways will be constructed at WUT and U.S. Oil south of WUT over the next two weeks. The driveways will be constructed in segments to maintain access to both facilities.

Port of TacomaPort of Tacoma Road is expected to be closed between Marshall and Lincoln Avenues the evening of Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20 to replace the second rail crossing south of Lincoln Avenue. Local access will be provided.
