Port of Tacoma Road Update - October 21, 2015

Port of Tacoma Road Update - October 21, 2015

Construction schedule for October 21 to 30

This week's construction update for the Port of Tacoma Road reconstruction project:

Road Construction Continues North of WUT, Maxwell Way Closure Planned

The contractor expects to finish paving the east side of Port of Tacoma Road adjacent to Concrete Technology Corporation (CTC) to near Ross Way by the middle of next week. Work also continues to construct new driveways at CTC with pours planned for the October 31 weekend.

Traffic on this section of road is expected to move to the east side October 28 to allow the contractor to begin removing the existing pavement on the west side. The grinding and paving work from Washington United Terminals to Ross Way is expected to continue for several weeks.

Maxwell Way at Port of Tacoma Road is now expected to close for up to two weeks, from October 28 to November 11, to accommodate paving the west and center lanes. A detour route will be marked around the construction.

Weekend work on this section of Port of Tacoma Road is planned for October 24, 25, and 31, and November 7 and 8.

Weather Expected to Impact Work Schedule

The increased rainfall expected this fall and winter may impact the project’s construction schedule. All expected completion dates noted above are weather dependent.

Stay Safe Through Construction Zone

Safety is our top priority. The contractor, City, Tacoma Rail and Port continue to work with emergency responders to make sure they have access through the construction zone.

Remember, the speed limit through the construction zone is 30 mph. Obey all traffic laws, watch for traffic revisions and use extra caution when driving through the port industrial area.
