Project Description
Construct sections of sidewalk along Sheridan Avenue between South 72nd Street & South 84th Street to provide sidewalks on at least one side of the street along the entire length. Project includes constructing sidewalks, ADA compliant crossings, sections of curb with areas of landscape/trees, and improving bus stops.
Project Benefits
The project will provide safer connections between major arterial streets, a safer walking route to Birney Elementary, improved Pierce Transit Route 48 bus stops, and amenities.
Parking Impacts
Residential parking will be impacted in some areas and restricted per Chapter 9.17 of the Tacoma Municipal Code which does not allow parking on the sidewalk or planting strip.
Project Updates
January 21, 2021: Project construction contract has been awarded and contractor should commence work early in February. Construction should last 10 to 12 weeks dependent upon weather and unforeseen conditions.
