City of Tacoma Observes Independence Day 

 

Administrative offices in the Tacoma Municipal Building complex (747 Market St. and 733 Market St.) and in other City of Tacoma facilities will close Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

The City of Tacoma will not pick up garbage, recycling or food/yard waste on Thursday, July 4. If your pickup day falls on or after this day, collection will be one day later. All other collection days are on their regular schedule.

Police and fire personnel will be on duty as usual. Animal control personnel will be on duty from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.   

Following is a list of other closures and service adjustments relating to the upcoming holiday:

  • All Tacoma Public Library locations will close on Thursday, July 4. 
  • The Tacoma Municipal Court (930 Tacoma Ave. S) will close on Thursday, July 4.     
  • There will be no parking enforcement by City staff on Thursday, July 4.

Fireworks are only legal within Tacoma city limits when a permit has been issued for a sanctioned public event. All other fireworks are illegal. Additional details are available here.
