City of Tacoma Observes Thanksgiving Holiday

City of Tacoma Observes Thanksgiving Holiday Nov. 27 and 28

Administrative offices in the Tacoma Municipal Building complex (747 Market St. and 733 Market St.) and in other City of Tacoma facilities will close Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. 

The Tacoma Recovery and Transfer Center (3510 S. Mullen St.)will close – and garbage, recycling and yard waste will not be collected – on Thursday, Nov. 27. Customers whose garbage, recycling and yard waste are normally picked up on Thursday can expect a Friday pick-up. Friday customers can expect a Saturday pick-up. All other customers can expect pick-up as normally scheduled.

Police and fire personnel will be on duty Thursday, Nov. 27,and Friday, Nov. 28, and animal control personnel will be on duty from 8 a.m. -8 p.m. on each of those days.  

Following is a list of other closures and service adjustments relating to the Thanksgiving holiday:

  • Senior centers (415 S. 13th St. and 5016 A St.)will close Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28.
  • On Wednesday, Nov. 26, the Tacoma Public Library’s main library will open at 9 a.m. and the Tacoma Public Library’s branch libraries will open at 10 a.m. All Tacoma Public Library facilities will close at 6 p.m. All Tacoma Public Library facilities will also be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27.
  • The Tacoma Municipal Court (930 Tacoma Ave. S)will close Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28.
  • There will be no parking enforcement by City staff on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28.
