Community Invited to Give Feedback on Draft Tacoma Mall Neighborhood Subarea Plan Package
--Comments Requested by September 15 --
Over the past two years, the City of Tacoma has worked in partnership with the community to re-envision the Tacoma Mall Neighborhood as a walkable, transit-oriented, vibrant, regional destination and community. The resulting draft Tacoma Mall Neighborhood Subarea Plan, zoning and development regulation changes, and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) are now ready for public review at tacomamallneighborhood.com.
The draft plan holds a vision, goals and actions to support positive growth and change in this 601-acre neighborhood. Key goals include promoting investment and job growth, providing transportation choices, improving livability and community health, protecting the environment, and empowering stakeholders. The associated zoning changes and EIS are early implementation steps toward achieving those goals.
The City is requesting public comment on these items by Friday, September 15, 2017. There are several ways to learn about the project and provide input:
- Informational Meeting on Wednesday, August 30, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (4851 S. Tacoma Way).
- Public Hearing on Wednesday, September 6, testimony will begin no earlier than 5 p.m., at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (4851 S. Tacoma Way).
