Historic Water Ditch Trail Phase Three and Four Open House Nov. 19
The City of Tacoma’s Public Works Department is holding an open house for the Historic Water Ditch Trail Phase three and four on Wednesday, Nov. 19,from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (4851 South Tacoma Way).
The City is working to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety along the South Tacoma Way Corridor by restoring the six-and-a-half mile Historic Water Ditch Trail. Phases three and four of the project between Pine and C Streets are the final links in the trail to connect South Tacoma with downtown, the Tacoma Dome and the Thea Foss Waterway.
The City has analyzed the South Tacoma Way Corridor between Pine and C Streets and crafted four alignment alternatives for this section of the trail.Residents and businesses in this area are encouraged to attend the open house to learn more, provide feedback and ask questions.
"After almost a decade of good work by City employees and advocates, it’s gratifying to know we're completing the final stage to this treasure in South Tacoma." said Council Member Lauren Walker. "My family and I have ridden our bikesthroughout this corridor for the past 13 years. We will finally have a completed, safe route from the Hilltop neighborhood through South Tacoma."
