Jacques Colon Appointed Tacoma 2025 Strategic Manager

Tacoma, Wash. – Today, Jacques Colon will begin overseeing the City of Tacoma’s work in support of Tacoma 2025, a community-informed strategic vision and framework for Tacoma’s future. He previously served as the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department’s health equity coordinator for five years.

“It is a privilege to join the City of Tacoma at such a pivotal time,” said Colon. “Tacoma is well-positioned for tremendous growth and progress, and I look forward to working with the City’s departments and community partners on efforts to achieve our shared goals.”

As a part of the City of Tacoma’s Media and Communications Office, Colon’s responsibilities include:

Tacoma 2025 community and stakeholder engagement
implementation strategy and oversight
process development and training
advanced professional analysis, research, and data collection
performance reporting
strategic budget alignment

“Jacques Colon brings to the table a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships, use data to inform decision making, and a professional track record that reflects the City's values of integrity, service, equity and excellence,” said Media and Communications Director Tanisha Jumper. “We are pleased to welcome him to our team.”

Prior to moving to the Puget Sound region, Colon served as a middle school science teacher with Teach for America in his hometown of Miami, and as a policy analyst in Washington, D.C.  He met his wife, Paula, when they were both science teachers in Miami and they now have two sons, ages seven and four. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball with his sons, playing music, bicycling, and eating good food with friends and family.

Colon earned a master’s degree in environmental sciences and policy, with a concentration in environmental management, from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a bachelor’s degree in biological anthropology and anatomy from Duke University.
