Lincoln District Streetscape Project Work on South 38th Street Begins Week of September 11
The City of Tacoma expects to install traffic control devices on South 38th Street, from South J Street to South Fawcett Avenue, starting Thursday, September 7, as part of the Lincoln District Streetscape Project. Traffic will shift to the north side of South 38th Street and be reduced to one lane in each direction. This stage is part of Phase 1 of the project and is expected to run through June 2018.
Construction will begin on the south side of South 38th Street the week of September 11. Work will initially focus on the installation of new utilities in the roadway, followed by sidewalk infrastructure improvements. At the same time, on-street parking in the construction zone will be temporarily removed.
The streetscape represents the cornerstone of the Lincoln District Revitalization Project. Key features include roadway, sidewalk, public art and pedestrian infrastructure improvements. This project seeks to enhance pedestrian access, traffic calming measures and landscaping elements.
Information about the project, including the latest updates, is available at cityoftacoma.org/LincolnStreetscape, by emailing LincolnProject@cityoftacoma.org, or by calling (253) 591-5174. The community is also invited to visit the Lincoln Project Office at 750 S. 38th St., Monday- Friday, between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
