Mayor’s Youth Commission Meets March 16 to Discuss Action Strategies with City and Community Leaders

TACOMA, Wash. – The next Mayor’s Youth Commission meeting will take place on March 16 from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Asia Pacific Cultural Center (4851 S. Tacoma Way). City and community leaders will join the Youth Commission, as the individual committees discuss what actions they want to take to meet their policy goals. These actions and other recommendations that emerge will be presented as an update to the Tacoma City Council at their Study Session on March 26.

At the Youth Commission’s last meeting in February, members chose four policy areas on which to focus:

• Justice and Safety
• Outreach
• Social and Environmental Health
• Education, Arts and Culture

Applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis from Tacoma residents, or individuals who attend school in Tacoma, and are 13 - 19 years of age.

Applications can be submitted at surveymonkey.com/r/TacomaYouthCommission. Questions or requests for special accommodations may be directed to Youth Commission Staff Liaison Bucoda Warren at bucoda.warren@cityoftacoma.org or (253) 594-7925.
