New Mapping Tool Gives Residents Information About Encampment Response

A new map, recently published at cityoftacoma.org/encampmentresponse, provides real-time information about the City’s response to reported encampments.

The “Encampment Response Map” helps inform the community about the City’s actions to address health and safety concerns caused by encampments.

The map pinpoints individual encampment sites, locations cleaned by the City, and site reclamation projects. Each point includes information about the location, status of the concern, action taken by the City, property type, and the resident concern if reported through the City’s 311 service.

Training is available in July for residents who want to learn more about the map, how to see if an encampment has been reported, how to view progress on a reported encampment or to see if a site has been cleaned.

The City has scheduled three trainings, all free and open to the public:

• 11 a.m. to noon Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Tacoma Municipal Building North, Room 16 (733 Market Street, Tacoma WA 98402)

• 5:30-6:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Tacoma Municipal Building North, Room 16 (733 Market Street, Tacoma WA 98402)

• 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the Moore Library (215 S. 56th Street, Tacoma, WA 98408)

More information about the City’s efforts to address homelessness is available at cityoftacoma.org/homelessness. More information about the City’s progress toward its Tacoma2025 goals is available on the Results253 page at data.cityoftacoma.org.
