Youth, small business owners, and residents helped shape the South Tacoma Neighborhood Plan that was adopted at the June 10, 2025, City Council Meeting. The plan reflects the diverse priorities of community members and sets a roadmap for the future. Some of the things that will come to life through... this plan include:
🌳$15,000 in one-time funds to expand tree planting efforts, implemented through our Urban Forestry Program
🚧Crucial corridor safety improvements on South Tacoma Way, facilitated by our Public Works Department
💙A partnership with Parks Tacoma for community events
The South Tacoma Neighborhood Plan marks the sunset of the program due to budget reductions, but the three adopted plans (Proctor, McKinley and South Tacoma) will continue to guide our work in these communities. Learn more about the gains made in this video and at tacoma.gov/neighborhoodplanning.

Tacoma history was on full display at the June 10, 2025, Tacoma City Council Meeting! The Mayor and City Council recognized Johnson Candy Co. for reaching 100 years in businesses in Tacoma’s Hilltop Neighborhood and the University of Puget Sound Women’s League for 125 of service.

⭐The University of Puget Sound Women’s League has been working to better the lives of students for 125 years. To date, they’ve awarded over $1 million dollars in need-based scholarships and host the annual Fieldhouse Flea Market. Join us in thanking them for supporting our local college campus and easing the burden of education expenses for over 500 students.
