WE-Bike: Washington State’s E-Bike Rebate Pilot Program

In April 2025, Washington State will be launching WE-Bike, an electric bike (e-bike) rebate pilot program.

The state’s e-bike web page has details on how the program will work.

Key information
  • Qualifying applicants will receive rebates for either $1,200 or $300, depending on household income.
  • Not everyone who wants a voucher will get one – the state expects to give away approximately 8,500 vouchers (and there are 3 million households in Washington state). There will be a maximum of one voucher per household.
  • Rebates can only be used at eligible bike shops and will be single-use at point-of-sale. The rebate can be used towards eligible e-bikes, bike helmets, bike lights, bike locks and any maintenance agreement sold at the time of purchase.
Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for an e-bike rebate, applicants must:

  • Reside in Washington state
  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Provide contact information when they apply, including a physical address, email address, phone number and demographic information

Additional information is available on the program web page and more details will continue to be added as the program gets ready to launch.

WE-Bike is being led by the state – but the City of Tacoma will be working to make sure our local residents know how and when to apply for this exciting opportunity!
